Powerful Words!

Tacha started with CFLM in 2013…..

She recently sent me a few pictures that I knew I had to share because:
1. They are awesome…duh!
2. Because I wanted her story to inspire others and not just the new members, but people that have been doing any fitness program for a long period of time and just go through the motions instead of really applying themselves.
See, Tacha has gone back and fourth, but it was this last time especially that really made me proud.  She said, “Jen, I’m really gonna put in the work this time and stay committed.”  Well, that she did!  A few things she said really stuck out to me when I asked her some questions.  I couldn’t help but smile and be proud of how far she has come.  She said, “CrossFit has been my stress reliever.  All of my problems of the day are gone when I walk through the door.  CrossFit is a part of me and I can’t see life without it.”  Now that’s some powerful stuff!!!
A couple of things led her to CrossFit.  She said she was tired of her clothes not fitting and not being as active as she was when she was younger.  She said, “I was tired of being fat.”   She also said she felt like her mental state was poor due to her eating and lack of movement.  She said she “believes that when your body is not healthy inside and out your mental state sucks.”  The best part is she realized the scale only showed her a number.  As we looked back at her old pictures her old weight was 180 and she is now 178.  She said she’s never felt better and her old clothes are too big!  You can clearly see a difference regardless of her weight on the scale!
-We are all so proud of her

Memorial Day Murph at CFLM

Quick announcement…..

We will be hosting Memorial Day Murph at CFLM Monday May 29th!!

Classes will be at 7:30am and 8:30am only.

Wear your Red, White and Blue, bring your friends, family, etc…and be ready to workout and have fun!!!  Even if you just come to support those doing the workout we would love to have you!

We are very honored to have Mrs. Sarah Hohman sing live again this year our National Anthem.

Please don’t miss this day to pay tribute to all of our military and our wonderful country.

Get out of here!!!

Want to give a HUGE shout out to Miguel Cordova!  He has lost over 20# since December of 2016 by just getting to class and staying consistant.  We are very proud!!  Keep up the great work!

So my journey with fitness was tough last year. Proposing, getting married, and ending the year debt free. All goals I wanted to accomplish last year. So I had to take a very long break from crossfit. In December I got the heaviest I have ever been…. Weighing in at 178 enough was enough. So I got back in the gym and started working hard eating right and well…… I now weigh 155 and I feel awesome.

To all those that make excuses to get fit. Get the heck out of here. We all spend enough time on social media, surfing the web, playing video games, and just being lazy. If me, one hardcore gamer and geek, can work hard and get fit. You can too. Start now because a year from now, you’ll wish you started now.

Big shout out to my crossfit family, @ Crossfit Lake Mary! Love you all!

Judy just recently hit her 3 year mark at CFLM and has since joining made huge progress.  She is both inspiring and amazing!!

“I never exercised or participated in any type of physical activity after I got out of the Coast Guard. I was a heavy smoker until I was in my early 40’s. After I had Sallee I was heavy and yoyo dieted for years. I was and am concerned about my longevity having such a young daughter. I started dabbling in fitness with exercise videos. After getting bored with videos, I joined my first Crossfit gym. I always felt out of place, but I enjoyed pushing myself beyond what I believe I could do physically and mentally.

I dropped into CFLM December 26, 2013 and was so inspired by how friendly and welcoming the coaches and members were to me, I signed up that day. I look forward to going to CFLM and try to make it in 5 days a week most weeks. I have what I call my “Crossfit friends” and they are the most positive people to spend time with both inside and outside of Crossfit. It is truly amazing how everybody sets work and family pressures aside and focuses on becoming more fit during class. I like that there are all ages and ability levels all working toward their own goals at the same time. Greg and Jen encourage us to push ourselves to do our best based upon our unique ability or limitations and make it fun at the same time.
I go to CFLM because for 1 hour a day I get to play with my friends and work toward my original objective of a long healthy life.”

Always happy!

Joe came to us wanting a little more.  An active basketball player he also knew he needed to build some strength.  We are happy to have him at CFLM!!
“I started CrossFit because of a challenge at work. We had decided to run a Spartan Race as a fundraiser and it was suggested that the old fat guy (me) probably shouldn’t do this. Well, that didn’t sit well with me and I started looking for a place to train, and Crossfit was suggested.
I called Jen and she was great from the start. I began with foundations, which was very challenging for me. Then I started attending 3 times per week and started seeing results immediately. and That progressed to an unlimited membership in a very short time. I had been working out at the YMCA, but with little to no result. The structure, the competition, and the support at Crossfit Lake Mary is so different than other “gyms”, and that made sense to me….
I’m so happy I committed. I am 53 years old, I’ve lost over 40 pounds and I successfully completed the Spartan Race (ahead of most of my team).
Most importantly, the entire family at CrossFit Lake Mary has taught me that if you leave your ego (and fear) at the door, set goals, commit and follow that plan that your best days are never behind you.
Thanks to Greg, Jen, the coaches and the family at Crossfit Lake Mary!”

Positive Attitude, Support & Motivation…

Congrats Kristina Rumsey‎!!  She shared this with us today.

“So I finally broke down and took an after shot. This is the first time I’ve made significant progress over the past 5 years and kept it going over an extended period of time. The photo on the left was taken in May of 2016, the photo on the right was taken today, a 26 lbs difference.

Thanks to everyone at CrossFit Lake Mary for their positivity, support, and motivation!”

Courtney is one of the hardest working and humble athletes in the box.  Check out what she has to say…

“There are a number of reasons why I started CrossFit. The easiest of which is that I’ve always been an athlete and participated in some sort of fitness activity and CrossFit provides an outlet for my competitive drive. The most difficult of which is my father passing away in September 2011. He was my biggest supported and my best friend. He also was a Power Lifter turned Body Builder who traded his dreams for the dreams of his children. I was introduced to CrossFit in May 2012, a time when i was looking for a change and for an outlet. I couldn’t lift more than a 45 pound bar over my head or do a single push-up to standard when I started, but lifting made me feel closer to him and it gave, and continues to give me peace. Being that I started in May, one of the first WODs I did was Murph. It took me over an hour and I needed to use the thickest green band possible for pull-ups, and did my push-ups from my knees. My goal afterwards was to not have to use a band the following year. My mindset is very much the same 5 years later and there is still so much I can’t do. However, every day I strive to be just 1% better than I was the day before.

I actually met Greg early in my Crossfit journey and the coach I was working with at the time always spoke highly of him and of CrossFit Lake Mary. When the time came for me to explore avenues that would enhance my foundation in CrossFit, CFLM was the first place I thought of. They were gracious enough to allow me to drop in for a week but it took less than that for the box to feel like home. I was looking for an atmosphere that felt like family, where the culture was inclusive and supportive. Where the coaches had a genuine interest in the members and seeing them accomplish their goals, whatever they may be. A place where I could grow, not only as an athlete but more importantly as a person, a mother and a friend. I found that at CFLM and I am eternally grateful.”
