WBC was first invented in Japan in 1978 by Dr. Yamauchi as a way of reducing pain and inflammation for his rheumatoid arthritis patients. Over the past two decades the technology has been further developed in Europe with medical research now confirming that the healing qualities of Cryotherapy also offer significant results for patients suffering from endocrine, immune and nervous system deficiencies.

Some of the many benefits of Cryotherapy include but not limited to:

Train Harder and Longer

Faster Recovery from Training

Improve Joint Function

Heal Injuries/Restore Muscles

Increase Athletic Performance

Decrease Fatigue

Increase Stamina

Tendonitis relief

Reduce Inflammation

Reduce Stress and Anxiety

Improve Circulation

Faster Post Surgical Recovery Time

Improve sleep

Boost Immune System

Relieves chronic pain

Reduce Cellulite

Minimize Stretch Marks

Burn 500-800 calories

Smoother, tighter skin

Weight Management

Improve Skin Disorders

This is what we call an entire system restart. This is where the body moves from the repair stage to the complete rehabilitation stage.

Your energy level increases and fresh, nutrient-enriched blood floods damaged body areas. You will begin to repair damaged body areas as joint pain is relieved.

Instant relief from inflammation and soreness and is good for an energy boost that will last you for a full day.

What to Expect

The first step toward faster recovery and better health is to ensure you complete  our online waiver. The process takes under 5 minutes, and is important in identifying any health conditions which may preclude you from using our whole body cryotherapy chamber.

After completing the waiver we will go over the procedure and have you get dressed (see what to wear below).

Ready to begin your treatments? You will be given a full explanation of the process, benefits and safety instructions by a staff member to ensure an optimal experience. Prior to chamber entry, you will be provided with necessary protective wear.

Cold air therapy in the whole body chamber is a dry fresh, oxygenated air — due to the lack of moisture (humidity), and is not painful like an ice bath or immersion. During the treatment, your skin temperature will decrease between 30-45 degrees over 2.5 to 3.5 minutes inside the chamber. All first time customers start at 2.5 minutes. During your experience an attendant will be monitoring your every movement next to the chamber. The chamber doors are incapable of locking, so if you feel uncomfortable, you can easily exit the chamber at any time.

What to Wear

Because of the exposure to extremely cold temperatures, there are mandatory requirements for apparel to be worn in the chamber. You should arrive in or bring the following gym attire:

Men recommended: (swimsuit or shorts, T-shirt, NO METAL).

Women recommended: (swimsuit or shorts and top, NO METAL).

We will provide slippers and socks in various sizes for your use. Lake Mary Cryo Spa will also provide a complimentary pair of gloves for your use at the chamber.  This short duration of exposure would be safe even without the protective apparel. However, Lake Mary Cryo Spa insists that you wear the mandatory cover for your protection and comfort to maximize the benefits of your experience. Cooling these small vessel areas is not vital to the systemic reaction you will receive from the whole body skin cooling.

Heavy exercise or showering just prior to chamber treatment is not recommended, and do not apply lotions, oils, cologne or any alcohol based products just prior to treatment. A simple towel wiping the skin dry of any perspiration or oils will suffice. Makeup or deodorant on the skin are not a concern.

Lake Mary Cryo Spa Cares About Your Safety:

•No Damp Socks or Clothing

•Gloves, Footwear, Socks, Required

•Remove Ointments or Lotions

•Do Not Touch Walls with Bare Skin

•Relaxed Breathing and Movements

•Remove or Cover Jewelry

•Horseplay Strictly Prohibited

•You Can Exit Chamber at Any Time

Post Whole Body Cryotherapy Chamber Warm-Up Process

After exiting from the Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) chamber, it is recommended that light cardiovascular movement be performed for a period of up to 10 minutes to further promote re-warming within the muscles which creates a more favorable circulatory effect to bring fresh blood into the muscles and promote the flushing of stagnant blood within the muscle tissue which contributes to muscle swelling and inflammation.

Further Explanation of Benefits

Cryotherapy helps the body recover after intense exercise by flushing out the muscles and delivering oxygen and nutrients to the muscles. Cryotherapy should be added to your current training program to enhance performance. This type of therapy will increase muscular resistance to fatigue and enable the muscles capacity to regenerate resulting in an overall increase in muscular performance.

Cryotherapy has also become a method in healing the sports traumas. Using cryotherapy chambers prior to physical exertion has been proven to improve peak levels of performance and reduce post workout lactate levels by an average of 28 percent.

Cryotherapy improves the general condition of the skin by increasing oxygen and nutrient supply to the skin. Cryotherapy is a treatment process that is known to tighten the skin and prevent wrinkles. During Cryotherapy treatment the skin vessels and capillaries undergo a period of where blood vessels are constricted followed by vasodilatation upon finishing the session. The result of this process causes toxins stored in the layers of your skin to be broken down and flushed away. The ultra low temperate (-270) activates collagen production in the deeper layers of your skin, resulting in the skin becoming firm and tight.

After several Cryotherapy sessions, clients have noticed a more youthful feeling as well as noticing their skin becoming smoother and more even toned with regained elasticity.

A Cryotherapy session will improve circulation, which causes an increase in the delivery of oxygen and nutrients around the body. The brain releases natural “feel good” endorphins to help cope with these ultra-low temperatures. These endorphins will increase your energy levels and leave you with a euphoric feeling for reported up to 7 hours by clients following a session. These naturally boosted endorphins have been known to help clients sleep much better daily as well as aid in the treatment of any forms of depression.

Cryotherapy tricks the body into thinking it’s going into hypothermia, causing it to boost its metabolic rate in order to maintain and increase heat production. This causes the body to burn between 500-800 extra calories. Cryotherapy may be the powerful training partner your weight-loss program needs.
