Powerful Words!

Tacha started with CFLM in 2013…..

She recently sent me a few pictures that I knew I had to share because:
1. They are awesome…duh!
2. Because I wanted her story to inspire others and not just the new members, but people that have been doing any fitness program for a long period of time and just go through the motions instead of really applying themselves.
See, Tacha has gone back and fourth, but it was this last time especially that really made me proud.  She said, “Jen, I’m really gonna put in the work this time and stay committed.”  Well, that she did!  A few things she said really stuck out to me when I asked her some questions.  I couldn’t help but smile and be proud of how far she has come.  She said, “CrossFit has been my stress reliever.  All of my problems of the day are gone when I walk through the door.  CrossFit is a part of me and I can’t see life without it.”  Now that’s some powerful stuff!!!
A couple of things led her to CrossFit.  She said she was tired of her clothes not fitting and not being as active as she was when she was younger.  She said, “I was tired of being fat.”   She also said she felt like her mental state was poor due to her eating and lack of movement.  She said she “believes that when your body is not healthy inside and out your mental state sucks.”  The best part is she realized the scale only showed her a number.  As we looked back at her old pictures her old weight was 180 and she is now 178.  She said she’s never felt better and her old clothes are too big!  You can clearly see a difference regardless of her weight on the scale!
-We are all so proud of her

Get out of here!!!

Want to give a HUGE shout out to Miguel Cordova!  He has lost over 20# since December of 2016 by just getting to class and staying consistant.  We are very proud!!  Keep up the great work!

So my journey with fitness was tough last year. Proposing, getting married, and ending the year debt free. All goals I wanted to accomplish last year. So I had to take a very long break from crossfit. In December I got the heaviest I have ever been…. Weighing in at 178 enough was enough. So I got back in the gym and started working hard eating right and well…… I now weigh 155 and I feel awesome.

To all those that make excuses to get fit. Get the heck out of here. We all spend enough time on social media, surfing the web, playing video games, and just being lazy. If me, one hardcore gamer and geek, can work hard and get fit. You can too. Start now because a year from now, you’ll wish you started now.

Big shout out to my crossfit family, @ Crossfit Lake Mary! Love you all!

Positive Attitude, Support & Motivation…

Congrats Kristina Rumsey‎!!  She shared this with us today.

“So I finally broke down and took an after shot. This is the first time I’ve made significant progress over the past 5 years and kept it going over an extended period of time. The photo on the left was taken in May of 2016, the photo on the right was taken today, a 26 lbs difference.

Thanks to everyone at CrossFit Lake Mary for their positivity, support, and motivation!”

Kim’s story

Kim has such a unique and inspiring story we had to share!  CrossFit is not just about working out and losing weight, but finding fitness to change your life and that’s exactly what Kim discovered!

“Let me tell you why I personally do Crossfit.  Yes, I know first rule of CF is never stop talking about it but seriously if I can have a minute to confess some things i’ve been feeling for a while.

Many of you know that when I was 19 months old, I had a traumatic drowning incident in which I died and once resuscitated fell into a 3 day coma. The doctors didn’t think i’d live or if I did would only be a vegetable child. When I pulled through, the doctors warned my parents that I would have difficulties in motor skills and coordination. Although thankfully my drowning didn’t affect my intellect or anything very serious, these little difficulties were tough on my personality and self esteem. It feels like i’ve struggled my whole life to be “OK” at what came naturally to what seemed like everyone else. My little sister taught me how to snap, my parents had to teach me how to skip etc. I would get things eventually but It was at a slower pace. This clumsy, awkwardness combined with a lot of early childhood asthma issues in which I had to sit PE class out most times and well, I pretty much felt like I couldn’t do anything athletic or right.

This fear of not being good enough for sports effected me mentally. Im the kind of person that wants to do/try it all and wants to get it right the first time. I am extremely hard on myself and strive to excel in all things I set out to do. It was so frustrating to have the heart of an athlete longing to be great at something physical but to let my fear of letting other’s down keep me from trying anything more than swim team and group classes at the gym.

What can I say about Crossfit? It has changed how I view everything in my life.

I started in May of this year at CrossFit Lake Mary and it has been an emotional journey.  When you are told to do a pull-up the first day and you can’t even hold onto the bar thinking you’ll never be able to hoist yourself up like the big beefy guys in class but then a month later you are not only holding onto the bar but doing assisted pull-ups! That does something to you. When you are lifting huge weights overhead as a small 5’1 woman, it empowers you. Suddenly those things that seemed impossible ARE possible if you want it and work hard enough. Also you have the most amazing people cheering you on as well as coaches that want to make you better. Crossfit is even more brutal mentally than it could ever be physically. It makes you vulnerable and forces you to confront that which you are afraid of…your limitations. You can choose to run from this or you can fight, if you fight, it will change you into something unstoppable. That is why people can’t stop talking about Crossfit, not because its a fad but because its therapy mind, body and soul. It changes people.

If anything it has taught me to believe in myself, just because I can’t do it today, doesnt mean I wont do it someday.  Thank you”

Real life Gains!!

This is Danny, he has been with us at CrossFit Lake Mary for 3 months and is seeing some BIG changes in his game!  Check out what he has to say…

“I hope everyone is seeing the same kind of Gainz I have been experiencing. We have a great group of people and excellent coaches at CFLM. Only been in three months but my performance at the box and on the field are radically improved. I’ve trained athletically for a long time but since I added CrossFit to the mix it has not only become my primary workout but it has accelerated my growth as an athlete tremendously. Pretty amazing at my age. Thanks coaches for your tremendous energy and knowledge of your craft!”

We’ll see?

Marc was hesitant to start CrossFit, but decided to give us a try.  He signed up for our 6 week challenge and here’s the outcome….

Marc said “Since I didn’t have too much weight to lose, I wasn’t expecting much. But things I did see are in the photos. Also (thanks to Fitbit) I lost around 3% body fat and my resting heart rate went from 60 to 53 BPM. We’ll see where another month takes me. BTW I’m vegan and went “pegan” the last 2 weeks of the challenge.”

He also left this review for us, “I’ll admit I was skeptical of Crossfit in general. Horror stories of injuries, uneducated “coaches” and the like kept me from even thinking about stepping in a box. Having a coaching and performance background myself furthered that skepticism (USAW).

Crossfit Lake Mary changed that. Constant coaching on form for skill levels in any class was impressive. Also having at least 2 coaches walking around coaching and not just standing in a corner. Also being able to ask specific questions on particular skills and coaches understand kinesiology and anatomy and can help based on individual athletes’ needs.

Overall a great spot to get started and go far with Crossfit. If you have your doubts, give them a try… They made a believer out of me.”

We are happy to now have Marc in our permanent CFLM Community!  What are you scared of?  Give it a try today!  We are here for you if your ready to make a change!

“Pick me up”

Meet Jen.  She has been a member at CrossFit Lake Mary for almose 3 years now.  She found herself hitting a plateau in her weightloss goals and needed a “pick me up” to reenergize her.

We often hear about people hitting a wall after or plateau after a period of time.  She came to us with her concerns and decided to take on a 6 week challenge.  Part of our promise is that we will get our clients the results they come to us for and work with them one on one to help them with that and gaining better movment.  Through hard work and overcoming many obsticales that have been thrown her way she had found the success she had been looking for.   She worked very hard and kept a positive attitude and this was her result.
We are so proud she didn’t stop and gave us the opportunity to help her!  Can’t wait to see where this takes her now that she’s found her passion again.  14542293_10210682531243239_2524166353359380689_o

“My wife made me!”

That’s what Dave will tell you if you ask him how he’s had so much success at CrossFit Lake Mary!  His wife Judy pretty much made him start coming with her to CrossFit about 4 months ago now after having such great success herself and…..well…you can tell he’s done pretty well with it!

Not only has he lost over 35#, but also has come off one of his blood pressure medications and moves with more ease than ever!!!  This is such a great story and the both of them make us very proud!  They come in together and help each other 5 days a week!  They are a wonderful example of how to stay young forever!!

Mom goals!!

If you ask Callie why she started at CrossFit Lake Mary she’d tell you, “Because I want to lose this baby weight”!

If you ask her if she did….well as you can see YES!

As a mom it’s important to be confident, set good eating and exercise habits and have enough energy to be able to take care of your kids.  Starting CrossFit and following a Paleo meal plan really helped Callie find a direction in which she could take herself for a lifetime

I asked Callie if she enjoyed the 6 week CrossFit challenge and she said YES and she aslo added that she had FUN!  She said she learned so much about a new way of living and was happy she tried it.  Most people are so afraid to start CrossFit because they don’t really think they can do it, but truth is EVERYONE really CAN and SHOULD!!

As you can see, Callie has made a huge difference in her appearance and her confidence has increased because of that.  She is a much happier and healthier mom and plans on keeping with this lifestyle!
